Red Weather
I was at Crash Mansion tonight with Ed. Wow it was awesome. The venue was sweet as hell as usual. But tonight was this one band, Red Weather, who I must say was amazing. Although they did mostly covers, they did not do your standard covers. They didn’t do your traditional 3 minute radio song covers. These guys covered musicians ranging from Jimi Hendrix to Led Zepplin to Creme. One song that I actually managed to sort of time clocked in at over 10 minutes. They stepped on stage looking a little strange at first, all the members except one sporting large afros, but looking like white guys mostly. Reminded me of At The Drive-In for some reason. The lead singer of Red Weather also played the sax, accompanied by a cute AND talented back-up singer, an insane guitarist and a talented bassist and drummer. The guitarist definitely stole the show, playing rediculously accurate and complicated solos.
After the show I got some time to speak with both the singer and guitarist briefly. I learned the guitarist and I shared the same name and the lead singers named is Brandon. The band calls themselves Red Weather at this time, but from what I learned, apparently this was their first time really playing live together. I’m not sure if the name Red Weather will stick once they have had more time together. I do think the name Red Weather is sort of cool in some way. And I must say, if it is true this was their first show as a band, they have some insane talent which might lead them somewhere. I would hope they manage to get some time to practice some more and write some original music. I did give them my business card and hope they do follow up with me. I’m sure I can work together with them and help them with some of my music industry contacts and whatnot. Anyways, its about 6am now, I must go to bed.
