Fight for “Freedom,” Come Back Homeless

Apparently, joining the armed forces in this country doesnt mean a thing once you get back from service. Risking life and limb in Iraq, now or 15 years ago, or in Vietnam or just serving in times of peace doesn’t mean that the government will help you out at all. Approximately 50% of the 200,000 or so homeless vets have served during times of war. 20% of them served in the two most recent conflicts in the 1991 Gulf War or the current one. Besides having to live with post-traumatic stress, depression or substance abuse, stemming from witnessing horrible things happening, like seeing baby get decaptitated by a truck, these people come home to no home. And then the government doesn’t help them much at all.

This type of shit pisses me off. While I don’t agree with the war, I do feel it is just as important to bring these issues to light.
