So it all went down like this. SLATE and I are in his car on Garden State parkway, when I notice these 2 unusual cars. They were BMW’s, but I had never seen them before. I brought this to SLATE’s attention and, being curious, we started to follow them. After a while, we notice how seriously fast these cars are. Their license plates indicated that they were from the manufacturer, but there was nothing on the car to show what model it was. So eventually we come to this side road, and the two leaders suddenly accelerate, really fast. For a few moments they were even out of our line of sight. We caught up with them and watched them pull up into a secluded parking area, and reluctantly followed. The two cars were parked there in front of a garage door, and one guy gets out. At this point we’re pretty freaked, but then the 2nd guy pulls next to us and rolls down the window. In a calm German accent, he says, “You guys are not easy to lose.” Then we ask him about the car and he says it’s a 2002 745i, with a v8 engine. That’s not even available yet in the States, people. Not wanting to seem too suspicious, we pull out of the driveway area and go about our business, feeling honored to have come so close to the secret underground lair of BMW.
